Portraits in Your Martin County Yard

Meaningful Portraits

Have you been thinking of having your next family portrait created in your yard? It can be a great idea! Your yard is part of your home, especially here in Florida. Your portraits will become more meaningful if you someday move to a new home and as your children and family grow older.

Not having to travel to a location is a big benefit to you. Plus, if you are not quite sure about clothing, you can show me the options when I arrive. If we decide you need something different, you can easily change.

No matter what location we choose, I scout the location, either in person or through video or photos. If we are considering your yard, I will ask you to take quick snapshots or a video showing a few different angles. This way I can get a good idea of the backgrounds and lighting.

Here is an image of my own family from 2004 when my kids were little. I love the fact that it was taken in our backyard. We still live in the same home but my kids look WAY different. And so do my husband and I.

Recently a mom and I met about photographing her three children under age 5. We decided we would be more likely to have success if we went to a local park instead of their yard. Through the years I have found small children enjoy exploring a new place. We can get 20-30 minutes of great portraits if they are in a new place. When they are at home, they are less likely to focus on the session because they want to play. Or it can be they are not used to being "guided" about how to have fun in their own space.

Finally, if you have a lot of family members in the portrait you would want to consider your own stress level. Leaving the house can be a great way to make it easier on you. You don't want to worry about cleaning your house while also getting yourself ready.

Family portraits are about happy faces and close relationships. But the location definitely adds to the look of your portraits. Many people love the personal touch their own yard adds to the images.
