Senior photos are part of a long history of photography for this Stuart, Florida family
Baby portraits, senior portraits and the years in between
I love this image, taken by my friend and client Patty Loveland who lives in Stuart. Her daughter Jennica just graduated from Jensen Beach High School this last May and Patty brilliantly recreated a portrait I did of Jennica and her dad a LONG TIME AGO. We just did Jennica's senior portraits in April. I absolutely love photographing families as they grow and change through the years!
I feel increasingly "old" as I see my clients' kids growing up and going off to college. However, it is a real privilege to be the one who documents the changes and evolution of a family. The images are truly treasures that cannot be recreated or replaced. I NEVER have someone tell me they regret doing portraits. I DO have people tell me regularly that they wish they had done more portraits as their kids grew up.
A long time ago I photographed the kids playing in their backyard. They have changed a lot since then! I really love to see how my clients' kids grow and change. And when I look at the old images, I remember some of the things going on in my life at the time and I also reflect on how much my profession has changed. For example, the tire swing image was taken using film and a big clunky camera on a tripod. It is much harder to chase preschoolers around the yard with that setup than with the digital cameras I use nowadays!
Jennica was with us last year when we did Timmy's senior portraits. They actually do like each other! Getting these images was MUCH easier than the portrait on the tire swing. They didn't run from me!
Last May Timmy graduated from JBHS and we did his senior portraits at Memorial Park and then headed to Hutchinson Island for some senior portraits at the beach.
Patty is a hairdresser at Bangz and Rhetta B's, near downtown Stuart. She has been doing my hair for more than 20 years, which is really cool. The time goes by in a flash. Don't hesitate to capture who your family and/or kids are right at this moment. You will never be perfect but you will all be perfectly who you are.
