Senior Portraits TOGETHER
What if your senior isn’t “into” senior portraits?
Here’s how I solved it with my younger son: we did it with his best buddy! With other resistant seniors, we have made it a Family Portrait Session and then I made sure to do several of the senior. Other times I have suggested bringing along a sister or brother to help them relax and have fun. As a bonus, I created images of them together!
If your senior is resisting high school senior portraits, you are not alone! Neither of my boys wanted to do them. Many clients through the years have told me the same thing. Some seniors (usually boys) just aren’t into it and make it super hard for their moms to get them to do senior photos. But it’s worth it to persevere and come up with a plan for getting those images that will capture your son (or daughter) as who they are right now. Because this time is fleeting.
Seriously, it’s only been a few months since this portrait session and I already see things about my son Andrew that I’m so glad we captured. Like his love for his ukulele. His high tops and his mischievous smile. That blue flannel shirt that he has worn so much as a teen. These are all things I want to hang onto, but I can’t.
He is moving on in life, starting college this fall. And he’s an “adult” and can make his own decisions, thank you very much! (If you have a child in this age group, your probably have heard this too!) His friend Zach, who we’ve known since he was a toddler—is joining the Coast Guard. Things are changing. That’s how life is.
Don’t miss your chance for images like this. Let’s make a plan and I promise I’ll make it fun! Even pay him if you have to—my other son wanted money when we did his photos, LOL. I was happy to give him some money to grab a quick dinner with his friends.
Once you get your senior to me, he will be fine. I may even suggest you “take a walk.” Because we all know it’s true. Many times our kids will act differently with someone else, someone who is not their parent. (Heck, we probably did the same thing when we were their age.)
Most of the senior portraits I create are for seniors from our local high schools, like Jensen Beach High School, Martin County High School and South Fork High School, plus The Pine School and St. Edwards School in Vero Beach. But I have also done a number of sessions for people traveling to the area from other parts of the country. For the senior, it is such a unique experience to have your portraits created at the beach and at some of our other lush tropical spots. I know a lot of “secret” locations.
Please don’t have regrets later. Contact me now and we can get started brainstorming ways to make a senior portrait session for your senior an easy reality.
For 20+ years as a family portrait specialist on Florida’s Treasure Coast, I have been known for relaxed portrait sessions at locations around Stuart, Palm City, Hutchinson Island, Hobe Sound, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and all areas in between. I am not like most photographers these days because I believe your family deserves to be celebrated each day, as part of your home decor. When you work with me, we will collaborate in creating Fine Art Portraits of your family, which will live on your walls or in a custom-designed album or folio box and be remembered as one of the best investments you have ever made. In addition to creating portraits for families, I create headshots and personal branding images for business use. To learn more, go the the Dultmeier Photography homepage.
